I wanted to check this place out even before I remembered Bourdain tried these pies. It's just the right mix of kitschy and comfort. I've had both the vegetable pie and the chicken curry pie. I've tried my husband's beef curry pie. All were tiger pies, topped with mashed potatoes, mashed peas, and gravy. The curry pies were much better than the veggie pie. The vegetable pie seemed as if it were filled with frozen veggies and lacked the same seasoning and texture as the others. The chips were first rate! Seasoned, hot, and tasty! Overall, if I lived here, I would eat here again and again. Great food, great prices, and tasty comfort food. Bourdain was right. Pretty f**kin' good.

Adorable diner kiosk. Quick window to order from. The food however wasn't very good. Maybe because we have an American palate. We ordered the meat pies; curry chicken, beef pie, beef and mushroom pie, chicken gravy on hot dog roll, chili fries, regular fries.
Chicken curry was bland but had good spices and seasoning with creamy potatoes, now bad 3.5/5
Beef and beef and mushroom pies were bland but tender beef 2/5
Chicken with gravy on bun didn't try. Only person who did made a face that deterred me. He said they must have forgot the gravy and chicken was dry as well.
The fries were great though! 4.5/5 -

We had an excellent meat pie topped with mashed potatoes, gravy, and mushy peas. It was wonderful, large enough to share, and piping hot. We sat on the flower bed, sharing our lovely meal, just people watching, then we checked out all the pictures of famous people who had also enjoyed Harry's Cafe. Just a wonderful experience! Can't wait to come again.

After arriving in the early morning on an overnight trans-Pacific flight, we were fighting hard to stay awake and get adjusted to the local time. We headed off for a walk from our hotel in The Rocks, and decided to make this our lunchtime destination. After meandering around the Circular Quay and through the Royal Botanical Gardens, we arrived here just before noon. There was a pretty long line already, which gave us a chance to look over the menu, but we already knew we were all going to get a meat pie. We got four different pies - beef, beef and mushroom, beef, cheese, and bacon, and chicken and mushroom. We got one of them topped with the mushy peas, which we were a little skeptical about but in fact they were a nice addition. I don't recall the exact price, but I think each plain meat pie was about $5.60 Australian dollars plus $1 for the mushy peas, which is actually a pretty good price IMO. The favorite of the bunch was the beef and mushroom pie. All of them had a nice flaky crust that wasn't too greasy, and the fillings were warm with a decent amount of meat inside. Good stuff, but in the end this probably made us sleepier than we wanted to be because we would fall asleep at 5:00pm later that day.

We heard about this being one of those places you "have to go" as a tourist. So we went. The location was more of a shack but they do a good job. I ordered a pork and gravy with onion hot sandwhich and it was so good. I'd never had a sandwhich like that before. Celebrities are also said to visit here, you can see various stars photos pinned up on the wall.
